A night view that unites

©Gah Learner
“Look at that full moon. Just days ago, it was but a slit in the night sky. Barely even visible. And now…it illuminates the darkness”.
She stared at the empty page highlighted by her lamp. Still not a word. She just couldn’t get her feelings out. All the words were swirling in her mind. A hurricane inside that refused to exteriorise itself.
And all she could do was stare out the window at the view. It was an essential part of the house they bought together.
“Maybe he too is staring at this very moon now too. Wherever he is”.

I really like this, the feelings of not being able to write and of having many thoughts that need to be expressed and ordered. Plus lots of unanswered questions leaving us wanting more.

Yes, indeed 100 words leave a mystery of what’s really happening. Thanks for reading!

I would be very interested to know what she will write when the words come. Perhaps she will be happy he is gone, or perhaps not. Much more to the story here. Nicely done.

Thank you very much! It is very difficult to know what someone has inside their mind…

When someone leaves your life without explanation it’s almost impossible to believe they are somewhere, seeing the same moon. I hope they get back together somehow.

I like an open ending and this one’s special. Excellent.

You convey a sense of emotional turmoil in your story. I think (although I’m not sure) that he’s disappeared rather than died. But with no knowledge she has no way of knowing whether he’s betrayed her or whether he’s in trouble.

Great interpretation and that is exactly it. It is usually that uncertainty that causes us so much emotion.

Intriguing story – I was left wondering who ‘he’ was and whether they had separated or whether he was dead. Nicely done.
