Five Whispers

https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/number-five-birthday-candle-12979894.jpghttps://thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/number-five-birthday-candle-12979894.jpgFive is a milestone. Especially when it comes to time, and most specifically years. Five years of writing on this blog, I have come to realise that the more you manage to express, the free-er you eventually feel, and the more you want to write.

But, there is more.

You realise how quickly time passes and how much your life can change in the span of (just) a year. How many things can happen in 12 months that have the power to change your life, your mood, your perspective.

You come to understand that knowledge is truly power, no matter where it comes from. And you witness for yourself that the more you expand your reading, the more it embellishes your writing. A creative mind has no rest; it needs its outlets of expression.

When you start considering the passing of time, however, you conclude this very fact: “Life is about making an impact, not making an income” (Kevin Kruse).

Life will never be perfect. But we can choose to make it work.

And in the end we only need a few things to survive. But most importantly, when you love what you have, you have everything you need.

Handing over the reins (4 whispering years later)

red sunsetThere is that moment when the day hands over the reins to the night. It is that moment when the sky is illuminated with shades of colour you wouldn’t otherwise see. And it is at that very moment that you understand that whatever is going on in your head causing extreme worry is in fact futile. Because all that really matters is that very moment. That “now” that you so often forget to live.

Sometimes to truly relax, you need to hand over the reins. To stop being so obsessively concerned with everything, over-analyzing and searching for meaning in things that just happen. Sometimes you just need to breathe and go with the flow. You’d be surprised at how many things fall into place when you stop trying so hard. And you’ll be amazed at the people who change your life for the better even when you paid no attention to them at first.

We all need that luxury of doing nothing and embracing those moments as they come. It is refreshing to say the least. And it adds an extra beat to your heart.

P.S. Four years ago, on 7 August, I started this blog and I’m glad to say that I’ve seen myself grow alongside and through it. Because you need a friend and a confidante in every moment of life. So, to you also: Thank you for reading and supporting me! The best is yet to come!

The time we never had

Siamese-cat-walking-away-Stock-PhotoHere we are, trying to live the present as it comes. Desperately trying to seize the moment, to make the most out of every opportunity that lingers in front of us. We try to convince ourselves that we are doing the best we can with our time. That we are not letting it go to waste, because that would be a shame.

But deep down we know that nothing can beat a ticking clock.

Whatever will come, will do so either way. All we can do is live, so as to say that we experienced everything we could in the timeframe we had. That we sucked the juice out of life and enjoyed it. With no regrets. Other than the (more) time we never had.

People come in and out of your life constantly. Even with them, their time is always limited. Even if it is with a pet. More so when it is with a pet. Because, sometimes it turns out to be more than that. More than simply an animal, a friend, a companion. Cats are usually the ones who own you. They tie you down without you even realizing it. But you don’t mind. You actually enjoy it and are all the more grateful for it too. Because you know that this bond is for life.

Three years ago today, that specific time was up. At least in this world. That eternal bond doesn’t break. You promised it to each other and you know it. That bond is forever. No matter how quickly time flies. No matter how much more time you wished you had.

Time flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind”. – Nathaniel Hawthorne

Whispers Three

three ice creamThree is a number that symbolizes completeness, the union of two opposing parts to form a whole. The one that sees the world as idyllic as we would like it to be; and the one who views the reality as it is. In three, we see reflected the right mix of the founding elements that construct who we are. For many, three is the number of good fortune. I choose to believe so too, because it’s been three years already since I first started this blog. And it has opened up so many more perspectives for me than I could ever imagine.

It is through this very blog that I discover who I am, what I can do, and what I would like to achieve.

It is by writing incessantly here that I can find refuge, experiment with creative freedom, record memories, share a travel log, and find a friend.

This blog has also opened up opportunities to explore all sorts of writing that is not simply limited to fiction, but goes beyond, to reflections, critical thought and political analysis. It allows me to believe that the world has no borders, and neither should your imagination and determination to do something great.

I am so grateful for all the followers I have gained (and continue to) during this journey. I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am and like me, you’re looking forward to more.

Keep whispering those thoughts in your head; sometime they might turn into actions that may lead to significant change.

Twice upon a Whisper

2nd-birthdayA lot can happen in a year, let alone two. You keep yourself busy, trying not to be overwhelmed by all that is happening around you, and suddenly you find yourself remembering this – it’s been two years since I started this blog!

I honestly can’t remember how I was surviving without it. To me, it is more than just another blog. It is my refuge, my creative freedom, my memories, my travel log, my friend. It is the place where you can go to and be yourself. To say exactly what you want to say, the way you want. And just maybe the message will get through. At least it is off your chest and out of your mind.

A blog when done right offers a myriad of opportunities. And that is what I strive for. It’s not simply about finding a good read; it’s about identifying with it and seeing a piece of yourself in it too.

Thank you for accompanying me on this journey. I am grateful that you are reading my posts, commenting, sharing, and feeling it all with me.

If I have learnt anything in these two years, it is that life is not at all what you dream it up to be. It’s hard, cruel at times, and with many ups and downs. But you have to keep fighting. Simply for the moment that will come and make it all worth it.

Thank you for being here. Just remember, even a whisper is sometimes louder than a scream.

One year of Whispers

anniversary1Exactly one year ago, I started blogging. Right here. And a lot has changed since then.

For starters, I love to blog, mainly because I love to write. And this blog has offered me the opportunity to do just that. Write. Express myself in whatever way inspires me, and on whatever subject springs to mind. Be it politics, social issues, behaviours, short stories, poems, or any type of fiction or non-fiction piece, writing on my blog has become an integral part of my life.

I have even discovered writing competitions and challenges that provoke the writers-bloggers, and more significantly serve to showcase your abilities to other participants, aside from the fact that they are tremendous fun!

It is fantastic to have an outlet to express yourself. And having a readership to encourage you is all the more important. So I would also like to say thank you. To all you who read what I write. Who come back for more, and who listen, engage and participate in these thoughts. Thank you, because you make me feel like my writing has a purpose and that it is somewhat being fulfilled.

I will continue writing of course. And I do hope you will continue reading. And hey, please do whisper it out to your friends, maybe they too would find something they would agree with here!
